THE Institute of Bankers of Zimbabwe (IOBZ) has secured international accreditation for its Banker's Diploma from the United Kingdom's prestigious Chartered Banker Institute – a move hailed as a "significant milestone" for the profession.
This was revealed by IOBZ vice chairman Elisha Chibvuri on Friday during his welcome remarks at the institute's annual conference, currently underway in Cape Town, South Africa.
"Our commitment to maintaining international standards in professional development is stronger than ever," he said.
"In terms of global recognition, I am delighted to announce that the IOBZ Banker's Diploma is now officially accredited by the Chartered Banker Institute of the UK. This prestigious recognition marks a significant milestone.
"This means that holders of the Banker's Diploma are now eligible to register for Bangor University's specialised programmes."
These include the Chartered Banker MBA, the Financial Crime and Compliance MBA, the Illicit Finance MBA, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Bank Management and Technology.
Furthermore, to bolster bankers' skills, Chibvuri said they have conducted over 10 capacity-building workshops to date. These have encompassed both internal sessions and programmes for individual member banks, he noted.
"We therefore encourage colleagues here to send members for training and to highlight the skills gaps they are seeing in their institutions, which we can address together at IOBZ. We truly value our Continuing Professional Development to equip the sector for the growing trends."
