
NATIONAL trade development and promotion agency ZimTrade will host the Buyers Seminar in Bulawayo on October 15, as part of this year’s Zimbabwe Export Week.
The flagship event is aimed at strengthening commercial linkages between Zimbabwean producers and leading regional and international buyers.
According to ZimTrade, the seminar will bring together 14 buyers from countries including France, Mozambique, Zambia, Angola, South Africa, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda, Ethiopia, and Egypt.
The buyers are drawn from sectors such as fast-moving consumer goods, horticulture and sesame, agricultural inputs and implements, construction and engineering products, iron and steel, protective clothing, and meat products — industries where Zimbabwe has established competitive advantages.
Ahead of the seminar, delegates will tour local companies and farms to familiarise themselves with the country’s production systems.
The visits are expected to boost confidence in Zimbabwe’s capacity to supply regional and global markets.
The event will also feature business-to-business meetings, where local exporters will showcase products, negotiate new deals, and advance ongoing discussions.
ZimTrade operations director Similo Nkala underscored the importance of the initiative.

“The Buyers Seminar is a critical intervention in our efforts to increase exports,” he said.
“It is not just about creating a platform for meetings but targeted at building relationships that can sustain trade in the long term and help our companies gain trust in regional and global value chains.”
Nkala highlighted the value of factory and farm visits as part of the programme.
“We know that buyers want to see where products are coming from and how they are produced,” he said.
“When they see for themselves the quality, the standards and the commitment of our companies, they leave with confidence that Zimbabwe can supply consistently.
“This confidence is what drives orders and repeat business,” Nkala noted.
He said the seminar presents a timely opportunity for local exporters to secure new markets.
“For our exporters, this is the moment to prove that Zimbabwe is ready to compete and supply at scale,” Nkala said.
“Every sample exchanged, and discussions concluded are a chance to secure new contracts.
“We want to see companies use this seminar to elevate themselves from being occasional suppliers to becoming regular players in international markets,” he said.
The Buyers Seminar will set the stage for the Exporters Conference and Exporters Awards on 16 October 2025, the highlights of Export Week.
The combined programme is designed to showcase Zimbabwean products, celebrate outstanding exporters, and promote sustainable export-led growth.
