Of course, Owner can be fired for refusing a term extension!

Zanu PF politburo member Munyaradzi Paul Mangwana

In a bid to ensure that nothing comes in the way of the Constitutional Amendment Bill No. 3 (CAB3), “the party” has sent various versions of a letter supporting the hatchet job on the country’s supreme law to all its District Coordinating Committee (DCC) leaders for on-ward distribution to the grassroots.

The draft letter reads: “I respectfully submit this letter as a Zimbabwean citizen to convey my support for the Constitution of Zimbabwe (Amendment) Bill (No. 3), 2026. As an interested participant in the governance and development of our nation, I regard the proposed amendments as both necessary and beneficial, and I urge parliament to pass the Bill.

“I set out below the considerations that inform my position: Firstly, the proposal to have the President elected by a joint sitting of parliament, as opposed to relying solely on a direct popular vote (Clause 3), is a welcome reform. It ensures that the Head of State must secure the backing of elected representatives from across the country.

“The requirement of an absolute majority, together with the possibility of a run-off, guarantees that the eventual office holder enjoys broad-based support. This, in my view, enhances both legitimacy and accountability.”

The letter goes on to list six other points in support of the Bill.

The letter, in its various permutations, is being distributed down through the party channels for signing and the hard copies will be delivered to district offices nationwide for onward transmission to provincial offices who will then submit to parliament. Being seen not to have enough zeal in mobilising the maximum possible number of the signatures would result in a leader facing serious disciplinary action.

This way, the party is leaving nothing to change — ensuring that it collects even up to 21 million copies of these letters in support of reforms.

Meanwhile, a “technical glitch” would ensure that no electronic letter, especially from those faceless netizens who are being sponsored by the evil West, will be available for consideration.

What more referendum are people asking for?

The party means business and it is very serious about this. Some risk joining their ancestors if they involve themselves in “treasonous” actions which seek to stand in the way of CAB3? So when Cde Munyaradzi Paul Mangwana threatens Owner with severe punishment if he dares refuse to remain in power, he really means it. He would be speaking on behalf of “the people”.

So, Owner has no choice. That Muchena chap and his fellow spent-forces may want to join the Western-sponsored sellouts in demanding a referendum, but who are they? They will surely be getting it, but on the other side of eternity.

Talented turncoat

Whoever made Zimbabwe a strange country did a really thorough job of it, Muckraker should be humble enough to admit it! When Zimbos thought they were seeing enough fights around CAB3, then comes the now-Cde Talent Rusere with a bizarre court application seeking to stop Tendai Biti, Jameson Timba, Lovemore Madhuku, Douglas Mwonzora, Job Sikhala, Jacob Ngarivhume, Fadzayi Mahere (and all others), who are openly opposed to the vandalisation of the constitution, from being unhappy.

“There is no legal requirement for a referendum. The respondents are wilfully creating a ‘legal phantom’ by demanding a referendum where the law provides none, solely to manufacture a constitutional crisis for partisan political gain,” Rusere posited.

“The respondents are manipulating the law to incite public disorder and prejudice the security of the state,” added Rusere, a turncoat who, until recently, was a ferocious regime critic.

Were it not for a captured judiciary — one that is part of “the system” — we would not have any worries about Cde Rusere’s expedition because the case would naturally be dismissed with the insult that it deserves — that it is frivolous and vexatious. The problem is that chances are that a favourable ruling existed way before this silly application was even filed, contributing towards granting the much-needed legal veneer to the criminal act that is CAB3.

Performative performers

This week started with Owner giving his sidekick awards for what he sees as “performance”, with the best performer in the literal sense, Barbara Rwodzi, the drama queen, being picked as the top-most performer. And she lived up to the award: kneeling before Owner to receive the accolade, much to the chagrin of her feminist colleagues who felt the drama was going too far.

Then cabinet secretary Cde Martin Rushwaya was quoted as saying the government is seriously concerned with poor performance of local governments. Talk of a pot calling a kettle black, or the biblical case of seeing a speck in someone’s eye when you have a whole log in your own eye!

We have always pointed out that when it comes to non-performance, our own government takes the whole cake, yet that very same government is actually making a show of being concerned with the poor performance of sub-governments directly under it. Only last week, the central government announced the wholesale reduction of rates and fees of most of these local governments, without even consulting them.

A few years ago, the same central government announced debt write-offs for all residents, with the City of Harare alone losing more than US$1 billion, a blow that it has never fully recovered from. It is these very same hamstrung local authorities that Rushwaya & Co would expect to perform miracles! Are the councils not only a reflection of the rot at the top?

Leaving no one behind

No-Finance minister, Cde Mthuli “Zwinhu Zwacho” Ncube says from now own, the Zimbabwe Gold (ZiG) would — in the spirit of leaving no one behind — be foisted on all local suppliers of goods and services to the government. Curious Zimbos are asking themselves a silly question: where would he be getting that ZiG from since he doesn’t accept his own currency — yes, the world’s strongest currency, as payment for services that government renders? The printing press, of course!

This is only the latest of the many gambles by various Finance ministers since the demise of the Zimdollar in 2009. So far, five attempts to resuscitate it have not only failed, but done so dismally. And Cde Zwinhu Zwacho thinks he possesses the magic wand to make the impossible happen?

What Muck knows is that currency is always about trust — and this is what Zimbos lack in their ownership. So, no matter how much they may try to foist this ZiG thing on the people, it will end up badly. Such basics don’t need a whole professor to know.

Motherly duties

As part of her “philanthropic” duties, Her Excellency Cde Dr Auxillia Mnangagwa meets with serial killers to get to understand their trade. Her most recent appointment was with Anymore Zvitsva, the Guruve serial killer who is linked to close to 30 murders.

In what capacity? Some silly Zimbos asked. In her capacity as the “Mother of the Nation”! A good mother is supposed to understand everything about all her children.

Meanwhile, the same Zimbos are swearing that some of their politicians actually have more blood on their hands than Zvitsva. Who is Muck to refuse to believe that?

Little nothings

The constitution is not an instrument for the government to restrain the people. It is an instrument for the people to restrain the government. — Patrick Henry (1736-1799).

In Wales, politicians can now be fired for lying.

Very sad!
