Academics dissect Mugabe’s legacy

Key presenters will include former Education minister and author Fay Chung, Brian Kagoro and Gerald Mazarire with SAPES  Trust director Ibbo Mandaza as moderator.

LOCAL academics will tonight host a virtual talk show to posthumously honour and unpack the country's long-time ruler Robert Mugabe's legacy.

 

The event, themed ‘Remembering Robert Gabriel Mugabe on his Centenary,’ will be live-streamed on Sapes Trust's Facebook and Linkedin pages from 1730 hours.

 

Key presenters will include former Education minister and author Fay Chung, Brian Kagoro and Gerald Mazarire with SAPES  Trust director Ibbo Mandaza as moderator.

 

"My presentation is divided into two parts,  firstly a focus on the character and personality of Robert Gabriel Mugabe, 1924 – 2019; and secondly an outline of historical and political developments, 1965 –

2019, after 1980 the period he was in power within the Zimbabwe African Nationalist Movement, which later became the Zimbabwe African Nationalist Union-Patriotic Front, ZANU PF, a joined coalition of ZANU and ZAPU," said Chung in a statement.

 

Mugabe died in Singapore on September 6, 2019, aged 95.
