FORMER Warriors and Dynamos coach Kalisto Pasuwa will be honoured by the National Football Coaches Association (NFCA) for his exploits in that county after winning five consecutive titles with giants Nyasa Bullets.

According to The Nation Online, Pasuwa will receive credit from the coaches’ body for his achievements and sterling role in Malawi’s football.

Aubrey Nankhuni, the NFCA chairperson, is quoted online in Malawi’s publications saying: “He has done well. Apart from his achievements with Bullets, Pasuwa has also helped develop talent and some of the players he has groomed are doing well for the national team. So, we are planning to honour him in a special way. He is a role model in the way he conducts himself both on and off the pitch and local coaches need to learn from him. As an association, we have not had problems with him nor has he been involved in unnecessary confrontations with match officials and for that, he deserves respect.”

Nyasa Bullets administration officer Albert Chigoga welcomed the NFCA’s position on the Zimbabwean coach.

“It is wonderful news. The facts and statistics of his scintillating performance as a coach and tactician speak for themselves. We are proud of Kalisto for his impeccable record,” Chigoga said.

Pasuwa grabbed the Super League title last year, his fifth championship on the trot in Malawi, picked up the FDH Bank Cup and also won the Ibongetse Castel Challenge Cup.

Pasuwa is now in demand from a number of African countries including South Africa. The Nyasa Bullets leadership has, however, indicated that the gaffer is not going anywhere, with his contract with the Malawian giants  ending on December 1 this year.

He won last year’s league title against foreigners Mark Harrison and Hendrikus Pieter De Jongh, who have also coached in Zimbabwe.

Harrison, who was at Caps United, Harare City and a brief stint with Highlanders, has quit his Malawian side Mighty Mukuru Wanderers.

De Jongh, who coached Highlanders and FC Platinum is Silver Strikers’ coach in Malawi.
