THE convener of the In Conversation with Trevor Ideas Festival, Trevor Ncube, said this week the platform will be the place to be for thought leadership and pioneering ideas over the next five years, as he vowed to leave a lasting legacy.
Ncube is the chairperson of Alpha Media Holdings, which runs the Standard, Zimbabwe Independent, NewsDay and Heart and Soul.
Now in its fourth year, the festival is steadily emerging as Zimbabwe’s version of the World Economic Forum, with the premier event witnessing an increase in companies lining up for partnerships, according to Ncube.
“We are building a legacy event and brand whose impact will be here long after we are gone. We will be almost 10 years old in five years and we are confident the Ideas Festival will be the place to be for thought leadership and pioneering ideas,” Ncube told the Independent.
He was speaking ahead of the 2025 festival slated for October 28 to 31 at Troutbeck Hotel in Nyanga.
The festival brings together some of the nation’s visionaries to connect, collaborate, network and inspire each other for the betterment of Zimbabwean society.
The media mogul said the forum will be a place where youth and wisdom converge to build a resilient future by transforming ideas into opportunities, new precedents and lasting legacies.
In 2023, Ncube said the whole idea behind the festival was to ensure that it becomes the “Davos” of Zimbabwe.

He said the increase in companies wanting to partner the festival, as well as paying delegates, was testimony the platform was growing.
However, Ncube noted challenges associated with organising such an event, stating: “This is a quality event which is not cheap to put together. One of our challenges is how to make it affordable without diluting the immersive experience.”
Despite this, Ncube said he remained committed to delivering a three day programme of debate, networking and inspiration that makes the journey to Nyanga worthwhile.
“This is the fourth year of our Davos-inspired festival of ideas. We are excited that the idea of gathering to share ideas that can positively impact our country and region continues to gather momentum. The increase in companies wanting to be partners and more paying delegates confirms we are on the right track,” he said.
The 2025 Ideas Festival will run under the theme “The Future of Human Capital, Innovation and Ethics in the Age of AI”.
