ZAPF’s congress kicks off in Victoria Falls

Finance minister Mthuli Ncube is expected to deliver a keynote address on the same day.

THE 50th annual congress of the Zimbabwe Association of Pension Funds (ZAPF) kicked off in Victoria Falls on Wednesday on a high note.

Running under the theme “50 Years Together: Shaping Tomorrow, Today. Building on the Past, Embracing the Future,” the event brings together industry leaders, policymakers, and experts to reflect on Zimbabwe’s pension evolution and explore innovative strategies for the sector’s future.

The three-day congress began with networking activities, including a golf tournament, game drives, and sunset cruises, setting the stage for the in-depth discussions to follow.

On Thursday, the formal agenda will commence with a welcome address by ZAPF chairman Williefaston Chibaya, followed by presentations on pension fund design, investment strategies, and regulatory frameworks.

Highlights include Farai Gaba’s analysis of state service pension models and Arthur Mutambara’s keynote on artificial intelligence’s transformative role in pension management.

Finance minister Mthuli Ncube is expected to deliver a keynote address on the same day.

Friday’s sessions will focus on risk management, legal frameworks, and global trends, featuring panel discussions with industry figures such as Wadzanai Phiri, Cornelius Mubi, and Peter Kadzere.

The event will culminate in a gala dinner celebrating 50 years of excellence in Zimbabwe’s pension industry.
