Zanu PF rally venue changed due to crowds

THOUSANDS of Zanu PF supporters have gathered in Marondera today for the star rally ahead of general elections on July 31. The venue had initially been scheduled for Rudhaka stadium but was changed due to the increasing numbers of people attending the rally.

President Robert Mugabe said his supporters should go out and vote for Zanu PF which he said has the people’s interests at heart.

“Time has come for you to vote for Zanu PF which brought Independence,” Mugabe said.

“We need to safeguard the gains of our Independence and not to allow those who are calling for regime change. The British have their nonsensical talk of managing a transition in Zimbabwe. What nonsensical transition are they talking about? There can never be a transition between our people.”

Mugabe has also taken a swipe at Finance minister Tendai Biti for allegedly failing to release funds to fund agriculture.

“We were given US$500 million to revive industries yet we don’t even know where he (Biti) put that money,” he said.
