According to a letter seen by the Zimbabwe Independent, Biti is among three nominees in line to land the prize given by the London-based Royal Institute of International Affairs at Chatham House to the “statesperson judged to have made the most significant contribution to the improvement of international relations in the previous year”.

Your success during 2012 in stabilising and de-politicising your country’s economy and your instrumental role in Zimbabwe’s re-engagement with the international financial community have a strong impression on our research programmes and our three presidents,” reads the letter to Biti.

The winner would be decided at the end of March.
