As part of the pre-run to the pageant, to be held tomorrow at the Harare International Conference Centre, GTEL Face of Zimbabwe contestants on Wednesday spent time with the children, taking time to speak, comfort and note the children’s Christmas wishes.

The event was part of the pageant’s social responsibility mission.

GTEL has pledged to buy Christmas presents for the children according to their requests.

Said GTEL marketing director Robert Gonye: “The girls took note of the requests the children made which will be delivered to them by Christmas. They have also taken their parents’ contact details to follow up on those discharged by the time of the gifts’ delivery”.

The children’s faces lit up with excitement upon being asked what they wanted for Christmas.

“I am so happy to connect with Tinotenda Saidi who broke his hand during playtime,” contestant Cynthia Qongo said. “He said he would like biscuits, drinks and a toy for Christmas. I am honoured to be the one to make sure his Christmas dream comes true.”

Another contestant, Noreen Chimuka sourced various Christmas presents from the American Ladies Round Table, two bunk beds and mattresses from the Regency Casino which she donated to Mai Carol Children’s home in Mabvuku.
