The media is key

AS we know, the opposition in Zimbabwe is not getting enough publicity from the daily newspaper — Herald — which is really partisan and favours the ruling party.

A lot of people now read the Internet news, so these “newsgroups” can really help to counter the falsehoods which people at home are being fed with the Herald and its sisters papers.
I am not saying private media must campaign for the opposition, but help the opposition by reminding people of Gukurahundi, Operation Murambatsvina, Operation Slash Prices. Tell people what those inflation figures mean. They spell doom for Zimbabwe if we have to endure another five years of this.

We Zimbabweans are not in the Diaspora out of free will. Who does not want to have a good job in Harare and be with his family? The press must tell people what it will mean if there is an economic reversal in Zimbabwe.

Some of the academic arguments the Independent is carrying on Simba Makoni and Morgan Tsvangirai won’t help us. We want change and we can only realise change if we have a strong media.
