THE Zimbabwe Rugby Union (ZRU)’s premier league action resumes tomorrow with crunch third round fixtures in Harare and Bulawayo where defending champions and title aspirants will be atte
mpting to maintain the momentum.
Defending champions Old Hararians host Mashonaland Country District (MCD) with hopes of continuing with fine form on their own turf after dispatching Gweru Sports Club and University in the first two rounds.
However they square up against a formidable opposition as MCD have won their two matches over Shabani at Zvishavane-based McAdam ground and at home to Old Miltonians.
A tight contest awaits both sides at OH Sports Club tomorrow but it is the city derby featuring Western Panthers against fading giants Old Miltonians that attracts more attention.
The tie is on top of the bill in clashes at Bulawayo’s Hartsfield ground where Busters play Mabvuku in a curtain raiser.
Both sides clashed in the third round last season where Old Miltonians lost 17-20 to Western Panthers before winning the second encounter 24-0.
This season’s programme which is a one-round format however dictates that everything be settled with a “get-it-right first-time” motto.
Busters who play Mabvuku have won their first two ties over city rivals Western Panthers and Gweru Sports Club.
University hopes to start collecting maximum and bonus points when they host Shabani at Old Georgians.
Harare Sports Club makes way for international cricket and will play Gweru Sports Club at Old Georgians as curtain raisers to the University Shabani match..
