Hotel Mercure A’Zambezi makes the top 700 list

Staff Writer

CONDÉ Nast Traveler magazine, an annual guide to the world’s top 700 hotels, resorts and cruise lines, has awarded Hotel Mercure A’Zambezi in Victoria Falls the most coveted distinctions in

the travel industry – a place in the 2004 Condé Nast Traveler Gold List.

This means that Hotel Mercure A’Zambezi is now listed as one of the best places to stay in worldwide.

The magazine is regarded as the most influential, sophisticated and frequent traveller’s guide in the world.

Its Gold list is drawn from responses by travellers worldwide to the annual Reader’s Choice Poll, the world’s oldest and largest independent poll of travel consumers.

In the 2004 draw, consideration was given to 32 000 responses to questionnaires delivered randomly to subscribers of the April and May issues of the magazine, as well as to some subscribers reached through the internet.

One-on-one interviews were then conducted with thousands of subscribers to gather the final comments published in the Gold List issue.

At the helm of Hotel Mercure A’Zambezi is general manager Nyasha Nyaruwata, a seasoned leader in the tourism industry.

Nyaruwata joined RTG/Accor as resident manager for Bulawayo Rainbow Hotel in 1998 and five years later he rose to general manager of Hotel Mercure A’Zambezi, which is under the same group.

Commenting on the award, Nyaruwata said: “We are really excited about this recognition as it clearly demonstrates our efforts over the years to provide an excellent service at all times.”

To celebrate this big achievement the hotel is offering all its clients a 30% discount on accommodation during the months of June and July this year.

This promotion is also aimed at encouraging local people to sample the best product in cultural hospitality.

With its personal charm and uni-que character, Mercure A’Zambezi Hotel reigns supreme. It was built under traditional grass thatch and is the only hotel nestling on the banks of the mighty Zambezi River. The hotel affords guests the perfect retreat to relax and unwind while enjoying the tranquil ambience and excellent cultural hospitality.

Mercure A’Zambezi Hotel falls under the Rainbow Mercure division of RTG/Accor. Other divisions are Touch The Wild Safaris, Sheraton Harare Hotel and Towers and Tourism Services Zimbabwe.
