CRESTA Hospitality, a subsidiary of TA Holdings Ltd, has signed another southern African hotel management contract.

rdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif”>Cresta is now recognised as a regional powerhouse in hotel management with a primary focus on profitably managing hotels, resorts and lodges on behalf of shareholders and individual hotel owners.

Currently operating 13 hotels in Zimbabwe, Botswana and Malawi, Cresta Hospitality will be fully operational in Lusaka, Zambia by the end of the year, managing Cresta Golfview Hotel.

This strategic move designed for the convenience of many of Cresta Hospitality’s regional corporate travelers will strengthen the position of the group’s brand in southern Africa.

There has been a growing demand for home-grown local African brands in the region, particularly in southern and West African countries, that understand the needs of Africa but still offer service levels of an international standard.

In several countries throughout Africa, there is a shortage of professionally-managed hotels.

Increasingly, there are individuals who have undertaken construction of their own hotel properties but do not have sufficient expertise in marketing, nor have extensive know-how of effective use of distribution channels, modern reservations systems, and professional hotel management skills required to gain an international reputation and market credibility.

Cresta Golfview Hotel, Lusaka, currently under construction, will be based on the selected services concept to cater for today’s discerning businessperson looking for a business hotel that provides all the services required to conduct business under one complex.

The selected services concept is growing in popularity particularly in South Africa, Asia and Europe.

Cresta Golfview Hotel Lusaka is situated near the airport on Great East Road.

Situated in a prime location, which boasts the new Manda Hill and Arcades shopping complexes, the hotel is adjacent to and is designed to provide hotel guests with a panoramic view of the greens on the Lusaka 18-hole golf course.

Strategically located in the capital city of Zambia, Cresta Golfview Hotel’s primary focus as a business hotel will be to offer seasoned business travelers the necessary facilities to conduct effective business operations within the comfort of their rooms, namely 24-hour internet connectivity, extra plug points for laptops, cellphone chargers, comfortable work stations and ergonomic chairs at a cost-beneficial rate.

The first phase of Cresta Golfview Hotel Lusaka will be complete by end of the year, offering 60 guest rooms, a tropical themed swimming pool, spacious reception and dining areas. In addition the hotel will boast of an adjoining Convention Centre, offering three fully equipped state-of-the-art conference facilities and business services.

The hotel will include the popular Chatters Restaurant brand, which is found regionally at Cresta Lodge Harare and Cresta Lodge Gaborone.

Locally renowned hotel interior décor consultant Celso Ribeiro contracted to design and furnish Cresta Golfview Hotel has added new functional features to the rooms.

Each electronically air conditioned room will be accessed through the use of key cards and will have access to internet and e-mail through dedicated lines ensuring high speed connectivity 24 hours a day. The rooms are configured to cater for the executive business person who will have an option to select twin or double rooms with convenient in built superior-shower units or fitted exclusive baths.

Galleria Celso will complete the spacious rooms with exquisite furnishings that bestow an ambience of luxury, comfort, and convenience. The final phase of the new hotel is scheduled for completion during the first quarter of 2005.

The convention centre, adjoining the hotel, will have a separate entry point for the convenience of conference delegates who are not accommodated in-house. The convention centre comprising of three conference venues will offer the conference delegates state-of-the art audio-visual equipment.

The conference venues will be ideal for medium to large conferences, launches, workshops and strategy sessions. Full service business centre facilities offering typing, scanning, e-mailing, binding, and photocopying will be availed.

Cresta Golfview Hotel Lusaka has entered into an agreement with the golf club that will enable in-hotel guests to play golf at their convenience. Due to its location, co-ordination of local, regional or international tournaments will be easier as golfing fraternities and corporate companies will be afforded the opportunity to hold inter-regional golf tournaments or corporate golf days and accommodate players at the hotel at concessionary rates.

The Cresta Pride Card, which provides the individual cardholder with discounts of up to 50%, will be valid for use at Cresta Golfview Hotel Lusaka.

Airport and inter-city shuttle mini buses will be available for in-hotel guest and clients.

Cresta Hospitality will continue with its regional expansion programme, focusing on the provision of business hotels throughout Africa.

The market for hospitality management in Africa can be segmented into four broad segments – markets where there is a large demand for professionally managed hotels, coupled with the presence of holders of capital or existing hotel owners who are interested in a long-term “hard currency” earning potential, opportunities for turnaround management of distressed hotels, opportunities to work with institutional investors on “greenfield” hotel management operations, and markets with over-capacity where opportunities exist for hotel managers to improve profitability and performance for hotel owners and thus earn returns in excess of industry averages.

Each of these market segments require distinctive approaches, as provided by Cresta Hospitality, that enable them to achieve their relevant goals.
