Zimind appoints new GM

ZIMIND Publishers P/L, publishers of the Zimbabwe Independent and Standard, has appointed Raphael Khumalo group general manager of the media organisation with effect from Oc

tober 1.

A chartered accountant, Khumalo is no stranger to the newspaper industry. He previously worked at Zimbabwe Newspapers (Zimpapers) as a financial manager. He held this position from 2001 until he joined Zimind Publishers.

In 1999 he worked as a branch manager for Zimpapers division, Typocrafters, and was acting general manager in 1995 and 1997.

Khumalo served his articles with Coopers & Lybrand Chartered Accountants in Harare and Bulawayo between 1982 and 1986. He holds an MBA and B Commerce degrees.

Khumalo replaces Janet Hogan who was appointed to the same position last year and is relocating to South Africa.

The executive chairman of Zimind, Trevor Ncube, said Khumalo’s mandate was very clear.

“Khumalo comes in with a mandate from the board to ensure that our publications continue the tradition of being good corporate citizens,” said Ncube. “His mandate is to ensure that the publications remain efficient and profitable.

“With 12 years in the printing industry, he brings a whole lot of experience,” Ncube said.
