Junior karatekas off to Botswana

THE Zimbabwe junior karate team heads for Botswana today for the Zone Six junior karate championships that kick off tomorrow.

Lucky Mkondya, president of the Zimbabwe Karate Union, confirmed the country’s participation at the competition, but bemoaned the lack of funding for the team that has led to the trimming of the initial team from 32 to seven.

“There is no funding for karate from the Ministry of Sport or from the Sports and Recreation Commission,” Mkondya said.
