MASHONALAND Bohlingers La-ger Basketball Men’s A League log leaders Hawks will be seeking to consolidate their lead with victories against Highfield Assassins tomorrow and
UZ Stars on Sunday.
Hawks take on Highfield Assassins at Richwood Park before engaging UZ Stars at the University of Zimbabwe.
Hawks enter the weekend programme leading the 13-team log with 17 points, one ahead of second-placed Cameo, who also have a double fixture this weekend.
Cameo take on fourth-placed Varsity Leopards at UZ tomorrow, hoping for victory to maintain pressure on the log leaders. Cameo is tipped to easily sail through on Sunday against bottom-placed Gentlemen’s Association.
Last week, Hawks edged Varsity Leopards 50-40 while Cameo remained in the hunt with a 43-36 victory over Black Rhinos.
Third-placed Highdon Raiderz have a chance to pile more pressure on the top duo with a seemingly easy assignment against Black Rhinos at KG V1 on Sunday.
Cameo and Hawks are also billed to feature in the women’s league.
Cameo play fourth-placed Varsity Leopards at the UZ tomorrow, while Hawks have a date against UZ Stars at the same venue on the same day.
Cameo lead the Women’s League log with 16 points, three ahead of Hawks whose slip-up would enable the fired-up leaders to open a comfortable lead.
