ZIMBABWE cricket national team players are in a tight schedule as the international season draws to an end.
After Bangladesh wound up a tour of Zimbabwe recently, it was back to domestic first-class cricket as four provincial teams engaged in the Logan Cup competition used as a platform for selection into the national team.
Sri Lanka is expected in Zimbabwe and the first one-dayer is scheduled for mid-April.
The Zimbabwe A side will tour Bangladesh next month to play against the host’s A side in two Test matches and five one-dayers.
Zimbabwe A team players will be out to fight for places in the national team.
Although eight players out of the 14-member Zimbabwe A team have either Test or ODI caps, they have not established themselves in the national team.
Zimbabwe A team players who have not yet featured for the national team are Mashonaland all-rounders Piet Rinke and Jordan Nicolle, CFX Academy and Matebeleland pace bowler Ryan Bennet and the national under 19 trio of all-rounder Elton Chigumbura, fast bowler Panyangara and wicketkeeper Brendan Taylor.
The Australian team is also scheduled to tour Zimbabwe in May following confirmation by a fact-finding team sent by the Aussies that with security guarantees, the team would come.
