Tough draw for Young Warriors

ZIMBABWE’S Young Warriors have been handed a tough draw in the Under-17 African Championship finals slated for May in Gambia.

, sans-serif”>Zimbabwe kick-start their campaign with a match against Cote d’Ivoire on May 8 in the Gambian city of Bakau, before taking on neighbours South Africa three days later. The Young Warriors then conclude their Group B matches against Nigeria on May 14.

The top two teams in each group go through to the semi-finals.

Gambia, Burkina Faso, Mali and Ghana make up Group A.

The Young Warriors qualified for the continental showcase after their conquerers in the final round of qualifying matches, Tanzania, were booted out of the championship for using an overaged player.

The tournament will be held from May 7 to 22. All matches will be played at the Independence Stadium in Bakau.
