Caps set to run away with title

CAPS United could stretch their lead at the top of the Buddie Premier League with a likely win over Masvingo United at the National Sports Stadium on Sunday.

At t

he halfway mark of the season, the defending champions have again positioned themselves within reach of the league title after last week’s 1-0 away win at Masvingo made sure the chasing pack remains far adrift.

The Harare side are 11 points clear of surprise second-placed Lancashire Steel, who found themselves in the title chase courtesy of a walkover win against Eiffel Wildcats.

Faltering third-placed Motor Action will be trying to reverse their 0-1 defeat to Shabanie Mine in Mutare last week when the two meet at Maglas on Sunday.

Caps have continued winning despite the loss of soccer star of the year Cephas Chimedza to Belgian First Division side KFC Germinal Beerschot.

The return matches of the back-to-back fixtures see Caps coming up against Masvingo again, and Charles Mhlauri’men will rely on Malawian dribbling sensation Joseph Kamwendo and his fellow countryman Hadji Tambala.
