All not rosy out there

THE assertion by “Diasporan”, writing from the UK, (“Leslie’s letter displays naivety”, June 3) that Zimbabweans in self-imposed exile can easily manage to send home US$250 a month cannot go unchallenged.

It is a well-known fact that most Zimbabweans in the diaspora are living a piecemeal existence, barely managing to eke out a decent living.

I know and have seen individuals deny themselves rest and sleep while others have no assets to account for all their toil.

The truth is that school-going children have been granted an opportunity laid on by the sweat and blood of their guardians — thanks to the pound.

Suggesting that life is rosy in the diaspora is the height of mischievous and

irresponsible misinformation.
