IN an effort to inspire and empower the young people of Zimbabwe, YouthTalk recently hosted a highly successful Career Day at St Dominic's Chishawasha.
The event brought together 28 esteemed organizations including Elevate Trust, Akello, Zimbabwe National Geospatial and Space Agency, Organisation for Women in Science for the Developing World, Marondera University of Agricultural Sciences and Youth Empowerment as well as Transformation Trust, among other organisations.
The founder and chairman of YouthTalk, Desire Kateyera urged the students to seize the opportunity and make the most of their time at the event.
He emphasised the importance of being inquisitive and encouraged the students to embrace the wealth of knowledge and experience available to them.
“This Career Day offers a platform that allows us to connect students with professionals from various fields, opening doors to new ideas, knowledge, and inspiration,” said Kateyera.
“It is an opportunity for our young minds to gain insights, ask questions, and envision their own future.
“I encourage you to approach this day with an open mind and an eagerness to learn.

The career day was aimed at exposing students to a diverse range of career options and provide them with insights into various industries.
Representatives from organisations were present to engage with the students, answer their questions, and share valuable information about their respective fields.
Elevate Trust, an organisation dedicated to youth development, conducted interactive dialogues with the students urging them to pursue STEM careers debunking the myths that STEM subjects are complicated.
Students learned about the essential skills required to excel in their chosen career paths.
Still on STEM, the Organisation for Women in Science for the Developing World emphasised the importance of gender equality in STEM fields as they shared success stories of women scientists and encouraged female students to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
Akello, which is a technology company, showcased the latest advancements in the field of digital innovation and students had the opportunity to explore cutting-edge technologies that assist them to learn with ease.
The Zimbabwe National Geospatial and Space Agency captivated students with awe-inspiring presentations on space exploration and satellite technology.
They demonstrated how these advancements contribute to various sectors, including agriculture, environmental conservation and disaster management.
Marondera University of Agricultural Sciences provided valuable insights into the field of agriculture, highlighting the importance of sustainable farming practices and the role of technology in revolutionising the agricultural sector while the Youth Empowerment and Transformation Trust focused on entrepreneurship encouraging students to think creatively and explore their entrepreneurial potential.
