Wingate A underlined their pedigree once again on Sunday, clinching the prestigious Julius Robinson Trophy for a record-extending 10th time in a display that reaffirmed their dominance in local inter-club golf.
The seasoned side proved too strong for a spirited Royal Harare A outfit, whose youthful lineup showed promise but ultimately had to settle for runners-up honours.
Meanwhile, ZRP turned the tables in the subsidiary contest, capturing the Wingate Trophy ahead of Ruwa, who finished second.
Individually, Darlington Chikanyambidze delivered a masterclass over three rounds to seal the Julius Robinson title in emphatic fashion.
The in-form golfer fired superb rounds of 69, 70 and 68 to finish nine-under-par, cruising to victory by a commanding 12-shot margin. His consistency and composure across the weekend set him apart from the chasing pack.
Nathan Van Rooyen claimed second place after posting rounds of 68, 75 and 76 to close at three-over-par, while Vincent Chidambazina secured third with scores of 74, 71 and 75 (+4).
In the race for the Wingate Trophy, W. Kanyemba emerged victorious with a solid 141 total, edging out F. Kamangira and T. Zvaravanhu, who both finished tied on 143, just two shots adrift.
The ladies’ division provided one of the most dramatic moments of the tournament. Wadza Kwaririma and Batsi Tilowakuti could not be separated after regulation play, forcing a playoff on the 18th hole.
