Isuzu Motors South Africa has unveiled the latest evolution of its adventurous and luxurious sport utility vehicle (SUV), the MU-X, which is now available in Zimbabwe through Autoworld.

The exterior of the 2025 MU-X has been reimagined to combine luxury with rugged utility. A completely redesigned front end features a new bumper, a restyled grille, and sharper LED headlamps with bi-beam technology. The LED daytime running lights and repositioned fog lamps not only enhance visibility but also give the vehicle a futuristic and bold aesthetic.

Traditional analogue dials are retained for essential metrics such as the tachometer and fuel gauge, while an LED temperature gauge adds a modern touch.
Convenience is further enhanced with features such as a hands-free power tailgate, follow-me-home lighting, and a customisable welcome function. The latter illuminates the vehicle’s parking lamps and low beams when unlocked remotely, a handy feature for nighttime use.
The suspension has been refined with larger shock absorbers, ensuring a smoother ride both on Harare’s urban roads and Zimbabwe’s rugged landscapes.
ONYX XT: New range-topping model
The 3,0-litre 4x4 ONYX XT is the flagship model in the MU-X range, offering exclusive features tailored for those who desire individuality and sophistication.
The exterior includes a gloss-black grille, metallic Light Magnetite bumpers, gloss-black roof rails, and ONYX black side mirrors. The bespoke 20-inch gloss-black alloy wheels and unique XT badging further distinguish this model.
Inside, the ONYX XT boasts premium red ambient lighting, red stitching on leather seats and a piano-black finish on the steering wheel. The advanced infotainment system, complete with additional USB Type-C ports for rear passengers, ensures connectivity and convenience for the whole family.
Powerful and efficient engines
The Isuzu MU-X offers two engine options, catering to diverse driving needs in Zimbabwe. The 3,0-litre turbodiesel engine, available in LS, LSE, and ONYX XT variants, delivers 140kW of power and 450Nm of torque, making it suitable for both city driving and off-road adventures.
For those prioritising fuel economy, the 1,9-litre turbodiesel engine generates 110kW and 350Nm, with an impressive fuel consumption of just 7,0 litres per 100km. Both engines are paired with a six-speed automatic transmission, ensuring smooth and responsive performance.
The 3,0-litre variants come with 4x4 capabilities, including a diff-lock and low-range transfer case for tackling Zimbabwe’s off-road trails. The 1,9-litre engine, available in 4x2 configuration, is ideal for urban and highway driving.
