Today we take a look at cars that are likely to grace our roads in 2024. We might not get them through the local dealer networks but they will be launched in the region.
Volkswagen
The Tiguan, the T-Cross, and the Touareg are all expected to get updates or new versions this year, making it a good year for Volkswagen in Southern Africa. These versions might not be coming to Zimbabwe as you hardly see new VW SUVs or sedans on our roads. VW is big in South Africa but struggles in Zimbabwe
Toyota
In the first quarter of this year, Toyota will unveil the completely revamped Land Cruiser Prado and slightly upgraded Land Cruiser 70 in most countries in Southern Africa. Both vehicles are sure to be popular offerings from the automaker. The people of Zimbabwe really like these marque.
Renault
In Southern Africa, Renault is poised for a banner 2024 after enduring a few excruciating years of inevitable delays and allocation restrictions. In Q2, you can expect the Triber and Kiger to get a makeover. In Q3, the Clio and Captur will undergo considerable changes. And in Q4, you will see the next generation of Duster, which includes a 4×4 derivative.

Stellantis may choose to include the all-electric version of the revised Peugeot 2008 in its Q3 launch plans; it shares a platform with the aforementioned Opel Mokka. It will be interesting to see if this happens. A revised Landtrek double cab will make its debut in the second quarter of 2008, far before the 2008 debut.
Omoda
Omoda, a Chery subsidiary, will debut the Omoda C9 in the first quarter of 2019 and hopes to continue the success it had with the release of the eye-catching Omoda C5. The front-wheel-drive C5 had a 1.5-liter engine and continuously variable transmission (CVT), while the new C9 has an all-wheel-drive system, a 2.0-liter turbo petrol engine, and an eight-speed gearbox.
The Omoda E5, the company's first fully electric vehicle, will hit show rooms in the second quarter of this year with a stated range of 450 kilometers.
Mercedes-Benz
Relax: Mercedes-Benz has a lot planned for the next 12 months. The brand will unveil the GLA and CLA, GLE and GLE Coupé, GLC Coupé, V-Class, and an all-electric EQV variant. The high-performance AMG division will introduce a number of new models, including the C63 S, GLC63 S, S63 S, and derivatives based on the GLE platform. Additionally, the GT63 AMG SE is on the way.
Mitsubishi
Like many other companies, Mitsubishi has a jam-packed few months ahead of them. At the start of the year, they will unveil a new Outlander with generous standard equipment. The debut of the brand-new Triton double-cab, a seven-seater SUV to replace the Eclipse Cross, and the ASX successor, the Outlander Sport, are the most noteworthy events for Mitsubishi in the second half of the year.
Audi
During the first quarter of 2024, the existing Audi A3, Q3, and A5 lineups will be upgraded to specially designed versions. Subsequently, the A4 and Q5 will undergo similar procedures. Curiously, the best-selling Q3 will have a TDI variant added to the lineup by June 2024. Updated A3 models will be available as well this year, while the refreshed Q7, SQ7, and Q8 will all make their debuts by July 2024.
When it comes to new powertrains, Audi has said that the Q8 e-tron will be available in May 2024 and the Q6 e-tron will be available in Q4, respectively.
BMW
Launching in the first quarter of 2024, the new X2 Sports Activity Vehicle from BMW will share its platform with the existing X1.
Ford
Ford, a brand that never stops making news, will add the top-of-the-line Ranger Platinum to its already impressive lineup, which also includes the Everest and the popular Ranger.
In 2024, we shall see the arrival of the new Mustang, along with its electric cousin, the Mustang Mach-E.
I have not seen Mustangs in the local Ford showrooms since launch in Southern Africa some years ago.
Shortly after its 2024 European debut, the redesigned Puma will make its way to local shores, maybe in an all-electric version.
Hyundai
In 2024, this best-selling Korean company will unveil the all-new Santa Fe SUV and an updated i20 hatchback. Additionally, I am aware that thrilling models like the Ioniq 5 and the all-electric Kona are ready to be launched as soon as their local price becomes feasible.
INEOS
Unfortunately, we will not see this one in Zimbabwe as the brand is not represented locally.
However, there is some good news: in the same year, the Quartermaster double-cab and a chassis cab (customizable double-cab) will be released, making this spiritual successor to the original Land Rover Defender even more appealing. Who knows maybe one of these local dealerships will bring it into the country.
Isuzu
After making its debut in Australia at the beginning of 2023, the limited-edition D-Max X-Rider will make its way to Southern Africa in the early months of 2024.
The current-generation Isuzu double-cab bakkie gets a few aesthetic upgrades from this flagship variation.
Jaguar
Although Jaguar's first fully electric vehicle won't be arriving for another year, in 2024 you can get a glimpse of one of two F-Type ZP Editions, the company's last petrol-powered models, when they make their grand entrance into the Southern Africa.
Jeep
Jeep has announced that the second quarter of 2024 will see the debut of an upgraded Wrangler in Southern Africa, adding another brand under the Stellantis umbrella.
Kia
New and improved variants of Kia's best-selling Picanto city vehicle, the Seltos and the Sorento, are already hitting European markets and will soon make their way to Southern Africa.
Range Rover
In 2024, Land Rover will unveil a revamped Discovery Sport. Under Range Rover, we can anticipate revised Velar and Evoque models, along with a new Range Rover Sport SV Edition One variant that will arrive early that year.
Mazda
The highly anticipated 187 kW six-cylinder turbodiesel powerplant will be available to Mazda in Southern Africa beginning next year, which is the most noteworthy development in this region. The flagship CX-60 Takumi model will be the first to have this 3.3-liter mild hybrid engine. Also announced are minor revisions to the well-liked CX-5 and CX-3.
The seven-seater CX-80 and a plug-in hybrid CX-60 are both slated for release in 2024, according to MD Craig Roberts, who made the same claim in August 2023.
Nissan
In 2024, Nissan will introduce an "updated Navara" package. Even if the brand-new model has been shown, this remains the case.
Availability times are premised on the South African market but we should be able to buy them in Zimbabwe since that is where the majority of our local dealerships receive their stock. Timings between South Africa and Zimbabwe are not that much different when it comes to launches in most cases.
Most car dealerships can expect another tough year ahead, as the Zimbabwean economy isn't set up to allow working-class people, who would normally have access to car loans in more predictable and functioning economies, to buy new automobiles.
