Robbers impersonate cops, soldiers

They were advised to approach the High Court for bail.

TWO suspected armed robbers who masqueraded as police officers and soldiers during a spree of robberies appeared at the Harare magistrates’ court on Friday.

Tongai Magoto (28) and Maxwell Museruka (38) appeared before Harare magistrate, Marehwanazvo Gofa, who remanded them in custody to September 12.

They were advised to approach the High Court for bail.

Prosecutors said on October 4 last year at around 6.45pm, the duo struck at Zim Steel Company located at number 10 Kirkman Road in Harare while wearing army uniforms. They ransacked the office and took cash amounting to US$10 000.

It is alleged that sometime in June last year at around 9.15 am, they used the same modus operandi and struck at 347 Masotsha Ndlovu Way, Waterfalls in Harare.  On October 12 last year, they hatched a plan to steal at S&M Bricks situated at stand number 150 Solomon Mujuru, Rainham farm.
