Insuza woman arrested for arson

Tholiwe Dube pleaded guilty to the charge when she appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Nomagugu Maphosa. She was remanded in custody to October 9 for sentencing following her conviction. The complainant in the case is Patson Moyo.

A 42-YEAR-OLD woman from Insuza village in Matabeleland North province has appeared in court charged with arson and malicious damage to property.

Tholiwe Dube pleaded guilty to the charge when she appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Nomagugu Maphosa. She was remanded in custody to October 9 for sentencing following her conviction. The complainant in the case is Patson Moyo.

According to the State, on September 29 at 8am, Dube had a misunderstanding with Moyo's wife, Virginia Ncube. The verbal exchange degenerated into a fistfight  and neighbours had to intervene to stop the fight.

Dube later returned to Moyo’s residence and found the couple away. She then set two huts on fire, destroying property worth US$600 in the process.

The case was reported to police, leading to Dube's arrest.
