YOUTHFUL writer Keith “MissQuotes” Marufu says she has drawn inspiration and encouragement from renowned author Arthur Marara to publish her debut anthology, Leaves of Love.

The Advanced Level arts student at Glen Norah-based Goldhill College told NewsDay Life & Style that she was happy to have launched the anthology last year.

“I ventured into the arts industry in 2020 and later had the privilege to have a chat with the renowned author Arthur Marara who advised me to compile my poetry and work on publishing an anthology, hence the birth of Leaves of Love,” she said.

MissQuotes noted that financial constraints were a major setback in attaining success in the publishing industry.

“As a writer I struggle with financial instability, as the income from writing is insufficient, especially for printing and other necessities,” she said.

“My memoir titled When I Grow Up, a book which transcends the boundaries of trauma and healing that was recently released is yet to be launched because of financial drawbacks.”

Through her writings, the young writer passionately addresses experiences that have shaped her life as she knows that her readers can relate to life’s agonies.

MissQuotes is currently serving as secretary for Pachedu Charity Organisation and is also vice-editor for Africa Yard Creative Magazine.

The young artiste has appealed to well-wishers and sponsors who wish to give a hand to contact her.
