Ndhlukula launches entrepreneurial book

The book was published after several years of Ndhlukula putting pen to paper as the business executive sought to highlight key aspects of her entrepreneurial journey.

SECURICO Security Services founder and managing director, Divine Ndhlukula, has published a book titled Entrepreneurial Success Insights On growing business in a fluid economy which details her journey as an entrepreneur while also giving advice to perspective business owners.

The book was published after several years of Ndhlukula putting pen to paper as the business executive sought to highlight key aspects of her entrepreneurial journey.

In her speech at the launch of the book last Thursday, Ndhlukula said Entrepreneurial Success Insights On growing business in a fluid economy went beyond the boardroom to give practical advice on how up-and-coming entrepreneurs can navigate a challenging environment.

“It delves into the heart of my journey, unveiling the challenges, victories and growth that shaped, not only my business, but my personal and entrepreneurial evolution,” she said.

“This book is relevant to startups, established entrepreneurs, tertiary students, colleagues in corporates. Women will particularly find my frank approach to peculiar constraints that we must overcome, quite encouraging to balance the scales in business and society. It is a vision for the next generation.”

She said as a leader she owed to the next generation of African leaders to share her experience as  a mentor and by grooming them.

“I am glad this book is my contribution to that mission, and that it is a home-grown story to share with our next generation of African business leaders, who should know the ethos of working, not waking up one day and voila, there is a Rolls Royce on the doorstep,” Ndhlukula said.

The executive said she penned the business book to highlight her journey of self-discovery and personal growth.

“I have started on my memoir that has been work in progress for the past 15 years (at least that is better than 16 years) and I hope to publish by year end. There is already a publisher waiting for that. Trust me, this will be epic and explosive,” Ndhlukula said.

Some of the people who reviewed the book include entrepreneur and strategist Prechard Mhako, Mutapa Investment Fund chairperson Chipo Mtasa, Old Mutual Insurance Company managing director Gloria Zvaravanhu, lawyer Petina Gappah and Alpha Media Holdings chairman, Trevor Ncube.

“I am very passionate about us as Zimbabweans celebrating each other and what we are doing tonight celebrating Divine and hopefully, we can get to be inspired saying have we captained the story because captaining the story will give us a story for generations to come. So, thanks very much for that,” Ncube said.

“Divine gave us this book while it was still pieces of paper. We went through it and thought one or two things about the book, but she (Ndhlukula) finally won the fight, as Divine always does. One of the attributes of Divine is that she fights, she is very stubborn. Which means for you to be successful in life you need to have a little bit of stubbornness and it is showing in her life.”

He continued: “This is a book that is written in difficult times but it is a book that is very optimistic so that is the first point that I think for me stands out. Secondly, this is a story of a woman who dominated a male — I won’t say dominated, but she left a pretty huge mark in a previously male-dominated industry with Securico and Zvikomborero Farms.”

Ndhlukula is a national, continental, and international award-winning businesswoman who has sat on various boards and business membership organisations. She is also the former president of Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce.
