Drone Solutions launches life-saving delivery network in Zim, expands regionally

The initiative introduces high-speed aerial logistics designed to overcome infrastructure and geographic barriers in the delivery of essential services.

LEADING African aerial logistics firm, Drone Solutions, has launched a drone delivery service in Zimbabwe to transport life-saving medical supplies and urgent cargo to remote and hard-to-reach areas.

The initiative introduces high-speed aerial logistics designed to overcome infrastructure and geographic barriers in the delivery of essential services.

“The primary mission of Drone Solutions in Zimbabwe is to provide a reliable, high-speed ‘aerial bridge’ for critical supplies,” the company said on Thursday.

The fleet is equipped to handle emergency medical supplies, life-saving interventions, and specialised cargo.

The rollout is structured for long-term sustainability, with a model that incorporates local training, systems integration and resilient infrastructure.

The project is supported by Drone University, the first Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe-licensed drone training school, which has trained nearly 1 000 pilots, including international students, and offers a full range of pilot ratings.

“At full scale, the national rollout is expected to create up to 200 jobs" across Zimbabwe, including drone pilots, hub operators, battery swap technicians, route planners and authorisers, and operations and administrative personnel.

“Drone Solutions calls upon government, private sector players, and global health funders to partner in scaling this life-saving infrastructure,” the firm said.

The company said the initiative marks a significant step in strengthening Zimbabwe’s healthcare logistics and technology landscape, with a focus on improving access to critical supplies.

In a parallel regional expansion, Drone Solutions is assuming control of drone delivery operations in Malawi, Mozambique and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The move will integrate these markets under a single operational framework to scale aerial logistics across parts of sub-Saharan Africa.

“This strategic expansion will streamline the rapid dispatch of critical medical cargo such as life-saving anti-venom and anti-rabies vaccines, pathology and blood samples, and other essential vaccinations,” the company said.

“By prioritising these high-urgency supplies, Drone Solutions ensures that emergency vaccines and time-sensitive medical interventions reach clinics across Zimbabwe and the region in record time, regardless of terrain.

“The expansion also leverages a network that already serves millions of people and covers thousands of flight kilometres.”
