CABS, CBZ Bank, Barclays, Stanbic, and Standard Chartered Bank emerged as the 2014 top five banks in the banks and banking survey hosted by the Zimbabwe Independent.
The awards were given by ZB Financial Holdings Group CEO Ronaldo Mutandagayi at a breakfast meeting on Wednesday.
The survey, which was launched in 2009, is held every year to analyse trends in the banking sector and this year was held in partnership with ZB Bank, KPMG and MBCA.
Presenting the survey criteria, Zimbabwe Financial News (ZFN) official Ranga Makwata said it was done based on efficiency, growth, strength and soundness, market share and profitability of banks.
He highlighted that banks were surveyed through their ability to lend, levels of competitiveness, expansion and levels of non-performing loans, among other factors. Stanbic scooped the best commercial bank award while as CABS lifted the top performing bank and the bankers achievers award was won by BancABC CEO Douglas Munetsi.
This years’ awards were held under the theme “pioneering financial transformation”.
