Pavcon partners Tilda Foundation to help John ‘Mzala’ Phiri

A party was also thrown last Friday for Phiri who looks certain of winning the battle against stroke.

Pavcon Industries last week joined forces with the Tilda Foundation and other organisations to assist former radio and TV personality John “Mzala” Phiri.

Phiri suffered a stroke, resulting in speech impairments until Tilda Moyo, his former workmate at ZBC through her charity organisation, initiated a programme to help him.

Part of the assistance included taking the former radio personality to the resort town of Victoria Falls for vacation and refurbishment of his Glen View house.

A party was also thrown last Friday for Phiri who looks certain of winning the battle against stroke.

Pavcon Industries, a concrete manufacturing company, through its corporate social responsibility (CSR) arm joined forces with the Tilda Foundation to help Phiri.

“As part of our CSR we partnered Sisi Tilda to help our brother John Phiri, who was a great radio and TV presenter during his heydays,” Shelton Paza, Pavcon Industries director, said.

“We chipped in with resources and labour for the makeover of his house.”

Pavcon Industries produces interlocking pavers, compressed common bricks and kerbstones, among a host of other products.

As part of its CSR programme, the company bankrolls a sports tourney in Mhondoro-Ngezi where primary schools battle for honours in various sporting disciplines.

Paza in the company of Chedenga Foundation last year donated shoes, socks, jerseys and tracksuits to vulnerable pupils at St Joseph Mupereki Primary School in Mhondoro-Ngezi.

Phiri hogged the limelight alongside Eric “The General” Knight when they co-hosted ZTV musical show Ezomgido in the 90s,
