Speaking on the movie premiere Liz Dziva of Multichoice Zimbabwe expressed excitement at the development: “We are delighted that Zambezi Magic will host the premiere of an exciting new Zimbabwean film, Jaiva Sibone, at 9pm on Wednesday April 25, with other screenings on Thursday 26th at 10am, Friday 27th at 10pm and Sunday 29th at 10am. As is well known, Zambezi Magic is the DStv platform that has been created to encourage and showcase the content of film-makers in Central Africa, including Zimbabwe. In this regard there has been an increasing presence on this channel for productions from this country and we know that in coming months and years this will grow, matching a pattern of growth within the overall production industry. This channel gives a wider, trans-national platform for local content and we shall be showing off local talent to neighbouring countries, as well as to Zimbabweans, many of whom are devoted followers of Zambezi Magic. Here’s hoping that increased popularity of Jaiva Sibone will be a stimulant for further productions from the talented team behind it.”
Independent Extra spoke to the film producer who is also a Chinhoyi University alumnus about his achievement with Jaiva Sbone and how it came about, “We responded to a call for content. We presented our work together with many other filmmakers. They were happy with our work and they decided to commission us to do short features.”
Elaborating on his hopes for the future Chikomo is planning big things. “Content creation for regional and international audiences is one of our goals and secondly we are looking forward to local and international collaborations.”
