Multimedia: Mujuru unveils ZPF team

FORMER vice-president and Zimbabwe People First (ZPF) interim leader Joice Mujuru has unveiled part of her team, which will spearhead preparations for the party’s inaugural national convention later this year.

Addressing the press for the first time since her ouster from Zanu PF in December 2014, Mujuru on Tuesday unveiled her national management committee, which will prepare for the National People’s Elective Convention.

The committee will include Mujuru (president), former state security minister Didymus Mutasa and former Zanu PF spokesperson Rugare Gumbo (founding elders/advisors) as well as Sylvester Nguni and Cougan Matanhire (secretariat).

ZPF Provincial security committee will be chaired by Christopher Ndiweni while the research and strategy committee will be chaired by David Butau.

“Today we confirm the existence of a viable, home grown, inclusive political party. Zimbabwe People First is here. The time we are living in calls for truth to correct our wrong past. Change for good, unity and determination to build a new Zimbabwe in peace. Zimbabwe faces an urgent need for political, economic and social reform,” Mujuru told the huge gathering.

“We are living under an unjust system. There is selective application of the law, one for the poor and powerless, one for the rich and powerful, one for opposition party supporters and one for ruling party supporters. The right to self-determination and self–dignity has disappeared. The ordinary person’s capacity to earn a living continues to disappear.”
