The recent utterances by Minister of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare Prisca Mupfumira that government can reduce the wage bill, without retrenching or firing people has attracted debate amongst Zimbabweans.
In his mid-term Fiscal Policy Review Statement last week, Finance minister Patrick Chinamasa proposed the trimming of the wage bill to below 40% of the budget expenditure.
