ZIFA appear to have settled for Young Warriors coach Kalisto Pasuwa to take over as Warriors coach, with the two parties set to meet today to plan for the upcoming 2017 Africa Cup of Nations campaign.
Pasuwa met with Zifa on Wednesday afternoon and sources said contract talks took place.
The association’s chief executive officer Jonathan Mashingaidze could not say whether Pasuwa had signed, but confirmed he is meeting the former Dynamos coach this afternoon to plan for the qualifying campaign which begins in June.
Mashingaidze said he would make the announcement on the national team’s technical department set-up soon after the meeting.
“We are meeting him tomorrow (today) and Kalisto Pasuwa will give his plans on the Warriors campaigns ahead.
The team has a congested programme taking into consideration that we have two campaigns, the Afcon and Cosafa Cup coming up at almost the same time.
Then there is also the All Africa Games and the Olympic qualifiers that we need to plan for,” said Mashingaidze.
Zimbabwe is in Group L for the Afcon qualifiers together with Guinea, Malawi and Swaziland.
Sources said Pasuwa has picked Triangle head coach Kelvin Kaindu as his deputy, and his current Young Warriors assistant Saul Chaminuka.
