THE Castle Lager Premier League, which approached boiling point last week, is set for a frantic conclusion this Sunday as champions Dynamos, Highlanders and leaders Harare City tussle for the title.
Only Harare City, who have a two-point cushion over their two main rivals, both with 51 points, have the destiny of the championship in their own hands while DeMbare and Bosso depend on the results of other matches.
If City can replicate their scintillating display against Highlanders, whom they dispatched 4-0 on Sunday, they stand a good chance of clinching the title.
Harare City will need the precision and efficiency they exhibited last week against a strong Caps United side at the National Sports Stadium. Caps have little to gain from the three points on offer.
Dynamos, however, will be hoping their foes Caps will do them a favour and at least force a draw against City.
Dynamos will then have to win their match against relegation-threatened Black Mambas to stand any chance of extending their dominance.
Last season’s runners up Highlanders have an equally tricky assignment against Shabanie at Barbourfields and they too will be hoping for a Harare City defeat.
Winger Silas Songani, who has emerged as midfielder Tawanda Muparati’s biggest rival for the Soccer Star of the Year award, will carry the hopes for Bigboy Mawiwi’s Sunshine Boys.
