In an interview, MDC-T information secretary Mashonaland East Graham Nyahada said their supporters Zanu PF youths arrived as early as 6 am in attempt to disrupt the MDC-T rally.

“By 6 am about 500 Zanu PF youths had gathered here donning party regalia at our venue for the rally, chanting Zanu PF slogans, insulting our leadership and tearing our posters,” he said.
“I then called Mutoko police because the situation was so vicious. The police responded after four hours after I confronted the member-in-charge. A truck-load of police officers came but they were overpowered by the Zanu PF youths, who went on to remove our posters in front of the police. No one was arrested.
When the Zimbabwe Independent crew arrived at the venue, Zanu PF youths could be seen singing about 400m away from rally venue.
