THE BancABC Sup8r tournament is set to roar with epic fixtures in the first round after the sponsors and Castle Lager Premier Soccer League confirmed the return of the competition next month.

The tournament will be the second cup competition on the local league calendar after the Net One Charity Shield featuring four teams.

The format of the tournament has not yet been confirmed but a proposal from the sponsors would draw Highlanders and FC Platinum in the quarter-finals.

The proposal would see the log standings from last term coming into effect with champions Dynamos meeting last season’s eighth-placed team, Motor Action.

The two Harare rivals clash in a league match over the weekend.
Runners-up Highlanders would face the platinum miners who finished seventh while third-placed Chicken Inn would face Buffaloes (sixth).
Chicken Inn, third last season, would collide with Buffaloes while Monomotapa (fourth) would entertain Zvishavane- based Shabanie.

BancABC head of marketing, Cynthia Chizwina confirmed the tournament makes a return this year after a year’s absence, but would not reveal details.

“I can confirm that the tournament is back and will run from next month until August but finer details will be revealed soon,” said Chizwina.
