Zimbabwe have qualified for the promotional play-offs in the Davis Cup by BNP Paribas Africa Zone Group III after winning both of their ties in Pool B.
They comfortably defeated Ghana in today’s tie 3-0 and are yet to drop a set, winning all 12 they have played.
Both Egypt and Nigeria have won two ties in Pool D and they will face each other tomorrow to decide who will claim the top position in the Pool. Egypt have been in scintillating form, winning all 12 sets and only dropping 9 games so far.
Nigeria will need to defeat Egypt in tomorrow’s tie to finish top of the Pool because they currently trail the hosts, having dropped a rubber in the first tie.
In Pool A, Algeria produced a spirited performance to defeat Cameroon 2-1. Algeria won both of the singles rubbers to seal victory before Cameroon won the dead doubles rubber.
Cameroon will face Morocco tomorrow, knowing they will have to win 3-0 in order to qualify for the promotion play-offs. However, as Morocco are the top seeds, that will need to be an exceptional performance.
Rwanda will finish bottom of Pool C after they lost both of their ties 3-0. This means that tomorrow’s tie between Madagascar and Namibia will decide who tops Pool C and qualifies for the promotion play-offs.
