I’ll revolutionise music industry, says Abra Simz

PRODUCER Simukai Mandizvidza aka Abra Simz, based in the United States since 1999, says he will use his international experience to bring a new dimension to the local music scene.

Simz, who returned home late last year, says he is back for good and will work with fellow musicians in the country to improve the quality of productions.

“I am back in the country for good with the intention of revolutionising the music industry. I will need help from others because I believe we can do anything as a team,” he said.

Over the years Simz has become a force to reckon with in music circles and is behind such groundbreaking projects as Rise up Zimbabwe by Jamaican artist Red Rat.

He has worked with such artistes as Beenie Man, Lady Saw, Kiprich, Voicemail and Ward 21, to mention a few.

Simz is also behind a project called Official Remix of Born Champions which features Winky D, Jusa Dementor, Cynthia Mare, B Kay and Kazz, Carlprit, Metaphysics, Tek Niq and the Nigerian star, General Pype.

“I have always worked hard and I will not stop as I still have a lot to learn. Usually when one thinks they have achieved or reached a certain level they stop working hard,” said Simz. “I believe the local industry is improving. The industry needs more managers, producers, marketing managers, among others to continue growing.”

He also produced a song for last year’s London Olympics which featured Pauline Gundidza, Tererai Mugwadi, Jusa Dementor and Chipo Sarudzai.
