Striker Ngoma threatens strike

A DEAL to bring former Monomotapa striker Tawanda Nyamandwe to Dynamos has collapsed after the player demanded cash up front, but FC Platinum’s Donald Ngoma is pressing for a move to the league champions vowing not to play for his current club again if they block his move.

Ngoma is dreaming of representing Dynamos in the Caf Champions League but FC Platinum is refusing to do business.

Ngoma has been begging the DeMbare technical team and executive to do more to try and persuade the platinum miners but there is little hope the “Money Bags” will budge.

Sources say Ngoma has vowed to sit out the remainder of his contract, which expires next year, if FC Platinum blocks his move.

When IndependentSport sought Ngoma’s comment, the player was locked in meetings with the FC Platinum hierarchy.

“Nothing has changed as of now but I am currently talking to them (club officials),” said Ngoma. “I don’t know whether they will finally allow me to leave but I hope they do.”

Ngoma was Dynamos’ top target with the champions prepared to pay US$30 000 for his move.

A Dynamos insider said they would no longer pursue Nyamandwe as the club was disappointed by his attitude.

“He demanded money upfront before he could sign. Nyamandwe said he would only sign after receiving the money despite written assurance from such a credible institution as BancABC, so we have aborted the mission to sign him,” said the insider.

Nyamandwe is a free agent after his contract with Monomotapa expired at the end of the season.

Dynamos have received financial support from their sponsors BancABC as the club seeks to strengthen its squad for the African safari.
DeMbare is struggling to tie down some of its targets because of “outrageous” demands either from clubs or the players themselves.
They have been chasing the signature of Harare City’s Willard Kalongonda but the municipal side has made demands Dynamos is failing to meet.

After registering 25 players, Dynamos have five more slots they can fill in at a penalty of US$500 per player for late registration.
