MATTHEW Rusike will have to wait a bit longer before donning the Kaizer Chiefs jersey, if Jomo Sono’s words are anything to go by.
Report by KickOff
Rusike was cleared to play for Chiefs by the PSL’s Dispute Resolution Chamber (DRC) on Tuesday, after a contractual dispute with Jomo Cosmos, and was immediately handed the number 21 jersey by the club.
However, Sono told the Sowetan he intends to challenge the DRC’s decision and, as a result, Rusike’s future is again in doubt.
“We cannot understand the haste with which they (the PSL) wanted to deal with this issue,” Sono said. “Is it because it is Chiefs?
“They told us on Friday that the matter would be discussed on Tuesday and we told them our lawyers knew of the later date and were not available.”
KickOff.com reported before the player was cleared that the outcome was expected on September 18, and Sono is crying foul.
“We are not surprised they did this. Cosmos is not one of the favourites with the PSL and we don’t expect anything from them.
“We are going to appeal and carry on fighting. These people are taking football back to the days of Abdul Bhamjee. It is a pity,” Sono added.
