The three-time league champions have already started using the new kit and negotiations for a more lucrative deal are at an advanced stage, according to Caps officials.
All is set for the Green Machine to get a larger chunk of the deal as long as they meet their own part of the bargain.
Caps were asked to purchase 3000 jersey replicas which are already in transit before signing a three-year deal that will see the manufacturer supply six playing kits in addition to training kits and tracksuits.
The first deal saw Caps purchase two sets of playing kits and tracksuits on top of which they were given training gear as well as balls. United started off the season using the Adidas apparel but they have since stopped using the kit after brokering the new deal.
The 3000 replicas will be sold to the fans but the price has not yet been established. Umbro, who have penned a deal with the Botswana national team, also kit out Barclays Premier League champions Manchester City and England.
In addition to that, officials said the team is set to announce a mega sponsorship deal with a global company in a fortnight. “I have been talking to at least three global companies which might come in as sponsors or associate sponsors,” said the team’s Irish manager Sean Connor. “We should be making an announcement in the next two weeks.”he added.
The Twine, Phiri and Farai Jere owned outfit, could get a timely boost ahead of the mid-season transfer window where they seek to bolster the squad with the addition of strikers.
Benjamin Marere is top of the wish-list but his contract with FC Platinum still has another six months, yet both the player and Caps will try to force a move.
While they are close to financial and material support, results on the field have not been as pleasing after only managing their first two wins of the season in their first seven matches in the last matches against Quelaton and Blue Rangers in an identical 1-0 wins.
Their match against Motor Action is still in dispute after the latter failed to turn up to the match venue.
Today they face their toughest test to date against FC Platinum. Caps has never lost to FC Platinum neither have they beaten them before.
Under Lloyd Chitembwe, who has since been relegated to number two, they are one of the few teams that managed to get a point at Mandava stadium last term.
If the table doesn’t lie, then FC Platinum is the favourite but Caps will seek to reassure their fans that they are on their way back up and once again they will be hoping inform attacker Rahman Kutsanzira continues to hit the right notes.
