The poetry collection features four Zimbabwean poets who were part of a British Council online mentoring project called Crossing Borders Writing Project.
The project enabled many emerging writers from Africa to be linked to established writers in the United Kingdom.
Menna Elfyn, the editor of the book, was one of the mentors on the long distance creative writing project. In 2004, Menna visited Zimbabwe to conduct creative writing workshops and met participants of the online project. Both the book and the tour are a culmination of her visit to Zimbabwe.
Following the publication of the book, which was published by Cinnamon Press, Musariri and Kabwato were invited to the launch of the book and participate in readings and discussions.
Their first reading took place at the Wales Millennium Centre. In London, at St John’s Church, the writers read to an audience of mostly Zimbabweans living in England.
The trip was made possible by British Council Zimbabwe, British Council Wales and Cinnamon Press who are the north Wales-based publishers.
The poetry collection is expected to be launched in Harare at the British Council offices next Thursday. –– Own Correspondent.
