Abaz to hold business forum

AMERICA Business Association of Zimbabwe (Abaz) will hold its fourth Just Business Economic Forum next month in Harare.

The seminar will be held at the Celebration Centre under the theme: “From Economic Stabilisation to Growth.”
Abaz vice-president Mark Oxley said: “The major objective of the Forum is to make a significant contribution towards both debate on economic policy in Zimbabwe and towards the development by the Government of Zimbabwe of economic policies that will be business friendly and which will contribute to economic recovery and growth.”
The business group added that in previous years they had attracted speakers from Europe, parts of America and Africa but this year speakers would be from the United States.
“Previous Forums have attracted high calibre speakers from Europe, North America, South America and Africa. This year the Forum will feature two top-level speakers from the United States,” Oxley said.
The keynote speaker will be Greg Lebedev, chairman of the Centre for International Private Enterprise in Washington, along with Scott Eisner, executive director of the United States Chamber of Commerce, who heads the Chamber’s Africa Business Initiative.
Abaz said five specific areas would be addressed under the same theme and a gala held on September 29, while there would be workshops the following day.
“The theme will be ‘From Economic Stabilisation to Growth’ and it will address five specific areas that are; Planting the Seeds of Economic Growth, Economic Policy and Economic Growth, Strengthening Governance and Transparency in Business, Creating a Better Business Environment and The Role of the Diaspora in Promoting Economic Growth,” Oxley added. “The Forum will be followed by a reception for all delegates, at which delegates will be able to meet and socialise with the visiting speakers, while on September 30, informal workshops will be held at the Celebration Centre on the topics covered by the speakers.”
