A NEW Jersey woman is waging a campaign to become the world’s heaviest living woman, admitting that she is as hungry for attention as she is for calorie-rich food.

Donna Simpson (42) weighs more than 270kg and aims to reach 455 kg.
The mother of two children, ages three and 14, models on a website called supersizedbombshells.com, where admirers and the curious can pay to watch videos of her eating greasy foods or walking to the car.

She has appeared in television interviews and said she welcomes media coverage. A Guinness World Records spokeswoman said Simpson has submitted a claim for the title of world’s heaviest woman to give birth, a claim that is being reviewed.

Simpson said she has received a book offer and wants her own reality show, partly to give plus-size women more confidence. She wears size XXXXXL clothing, which she buys mostly online, and calls herself a member of the “fat acceptance community”.

“The bigger your butt is, the bigger belly you have, the sexier you are,” Simpson said, lounging on the couch of her suburban home 65kms south of New York. — Reuters.

VENEZUELAN President Hugo Chavez is offering parents a cure for children who don’t want to go to sleep. Have them watch his televised speeches.
In a television appearance last week to extol the virtues of a portable computer his socialist government plans to introduce at public schools, Chavez said youngsters had stopped him in the street to tell him they saw him on television.
“It seems that there are mothers here who, instead of putting their kids to sleep with cartoons, put them to sleep with Chavez,” he said.
“And the child dozes off and dozes off, and Chavez speaks and speaks and speaks. And the child falls asleep,” said the loquacious leader, well known for speeches that can last for hours. — Reuters.

THE parents of a three-year-old girl say she has been smoking and drinking like an adult ever since she was in a road accident.
Ya Wen lives in a shelter with her parents who collect and sell garbage for money in Huizhou in southern China’s Fujian province.
Her mother, Gao, says Ya Wen is now addicted to cigarettes and will also down glasses of beer whenever she gets the chance.
Gao said her daughter’s personality changed when she was knocked down by a speeding van last year, reports the Yangcheng Evening Post.
“The first time I found her smoking was in the toilet,” said Gao. “Before that I often saw cigarette butts in the toilet but thought they were my husband’s until I saw my daughter smoking there.”
The family tried to stop her smoking but she kept stealing them from her father and buying them on credit from a neighbouring store.
The store owner confirmed that Ya Wen often came over and took one or two packs away: “We didn’t ask, thinking she was buying for her father,” he explained. — Orange news.

DOG lovers are in mourning over the news that a Chinese crested hairless pooch, officially the “World’s Ugliest Dog”, has died aged 17.
Miss Ellie, whose lopsided tongue stuck out of the side of her mouth, died at her Tennessee home, the Mountain Press reported. Despite being blind in her final years, the bug-eyed pooch won Animal Planet’s World’s Ugliest Dog award last year.
Rescued by owner Dawn Goehring when she was seven years old, Miss Ellie ended up enjoying an unlikely career in showbusiness. She starred in Animal Planet’s Dog 101 and was featured in numerous commercials and television programmes. — Orange news.
