Sibanda Rescues Zimbabwe XI

OPENER Vusi Sibanda hit a first-class career best score of 174 to bring Zimbabwe XI back in contest in their Intercontinental Cup match with Kenya on Day 2 in Kwekwe yesterday.

Sibanda was still unbeaten, batting with wicketkeeper Reggie Chakabva, who was also not out on 75.
The Kenyans batted first and totaled  333. The Zimbabwean second-string outfit played second fiddle for most of the second day with wickets tumbling regularly. They were 178-7 at one stage. But Sibanda, who is captaining the side after being dropped from the national side to play against Kenya and Bangladesh, lifted the side to apparently liven up the tie as a contest.
