Ncube Appointed To Moneyweb Board

THE Zimbabwe Independent proprietor Trevor Ncube, who also owns  The Standard  and South Africa’s Mail & Guardian, has been appointed to the MoneyWeb board as an independent non-executive director with effect from December, 2008.

Moneyweb is a leading  Radio and Internet media company listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE).

A letter to shareholders and fellow directors by Moneyweb said: “In terms of paragraph 3,59 of the Listings Requirements of the JSE Ltd, shareholders are advised that Mr Trevor Ncube has been appointed to the board as an independent non-executive director with effect from 1 December 2008.”

Ncube is the immediate past president and chairman of Print Media South Africa and the Newspaper Association of South Africa and the appointment to the Moneyweb board came barely a month after receiving the illustrious German African Award 2008 in recognition of his fight for media freedom and human rights and democracy in Zimbabwe and South Africa.

Last year Ncube received the International Publishers Association Freedom Prize. –– Staff Writer.
