JANET Jackson has left her record label, it was confirmed.
The All For You hitmaker terminated her relationship with Island Records so she will have “autonomy over her career”, her publicist said.
“At her request, the record label has agreed to dissolve their working relationship,” Janetâ€™s rep said in a statement.
“Now more than 20 years after the release of her iconic album, Control, Janet will have autonomy over her career, without the restrictions of a label system.”
Jackson â€“â€“ who is ranked by Billboard magazine as one of the top 10 best-selling music artists in the history of contemporary music, has sold over 100 million albums worldwide.
Jackson signed to Island Records in July 2007.
Her tenth studio album, Discipline, was released in February 2008, by the Island Def Jam Music Group, debuting on the Billboard 200 at number one. â€“â€“ Bang Showbiz.
